Follow Eske Willerslev's quest for 10,000-year-old human bones that reveal the genetic history of the first Americans, along with the ethical and personal dilemmas that accumulate in the professor's encounters with today’s Indigenous peoples. The documentary film Remains is based on the Danish TV series The DNA Detective, which has followed Eske Willerslev’s scientific adventures around the world for the past 10 years.
About the Series
For 10 years, director Linus Mørk has followed Eske Willerslev around the world and through the biggest breakthroughs and crises of his career.
Linus’s ambition with the series has not only been to follow the daily life of a top scientist and communicate his research, but also to shed light on some of the major ethical and political questions that unfold around Eske’s pursuit of scientific discoveries. And to do so in an entertaining format that allows space for humor, deep emotions, and reflection.
The result is a series of breathtaking scientific adventures, where the path to new discoveries is not a lofty pursuit of truth, but one filled with ethical dilemmas, political interests, and personal ambitions.
